SRA guidance – Price transparency
Our team believe that it is not only important, but also ethical that our client and stakeholders have the information they need to make an informed choice about the law firm they will be instructing. This includes helping our both our existing clients as well as our potential clients to understand what the likely costs of their matter may be, and the key stages which a typical transaction may take.
Since 6th December 2018, our regulator, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has required that all law firms publish their fees and pricing in certain areas of law in which we deliver legal services.
More information on the SRA price transparency rules can be found here.
For our firm, you will find this information included under the categories listed below:
- Company Secretarial Charges
- Conveyancing Charges (Residential)
- Debt recovery charges (up to £100,000)
- Employment tribunals (unfair/wrongful dismissal)
- Immigration (excluding asylum)
- Licensing applications (business premises)
- Motoring Offences (summary offences)
- Probate (uncontested)
The figures we give, however, may vary in cases with particular complexities. That is why will always give you a cost estimate based on your individual transaction at the outset of your matter that takes into account the actual features of your transaction. Additionally, we will continually monitor our cost estimate and of course, if any unexpected complications arise that have an impact on our fees, we would immediately inform you of this and would discuss with you the potential consequences before you incur any extra fees.
Our fees and pricing do not include VAT. When applicable, VAT will be applied at the rate of 20%. VAT is charged at the standard rate the details of which are found here: VAT rates - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Not all parts of the search pack attract VAT.
For your information we use the term ‘disbursements’ to mean any costs or expenses paid or to be paid to a third party on behalf of a client (including any VAT element) except for office expenses such as postage and courier fees.
Should the service lane you are looking for not appear, then please do not hesitate to contact us either by email or telephone (0207 625 4424) so that we may discuss your enquiry with you in more detail.
