Landlords face immigration checks
Following the passing of The Immigration Act 2014 which received assent on 14 May 2014, landlords of private residential properties are now faced with the onerous burden of checking the immigration status of their prospective tenants. Under the scheme Landlords will be required to screen their perspective tenants to determine their right to occupy a property before granting a tenancy. To make matters that little more arduous, the landlord must ensure that their right to occupy the property does not lapse.
