Furlough Leave: What Every Business Owner Needs To Know

In an effort to keep the economy moving and safeguard UK jobs, the Government announced the “Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme” as part of a package of measures to alleviate the impact of COVID-19 on businesses across the UK.

Now that the Government’s on-line portal has been open for over two weeks, we know there are lots of questions you will be asking yourselves as business owners about the mechanics of how the scheme actually works.

To help you navigate through the uncharted waters of Furlough, Arram Berlyn Gardner and JPC are hosting a joint panel discussion on the common questions and issues business owners are currently dealing with. The discussion will also cover what our panellists consider will be the key issues to arise from the scheme in the medium to long term for businesses.

The webinar will take the form of a panel discussion which will be chaired by Yashmin Mistry, Partner at JPC.

The panellists will be Julie Edmonds, Head of Employment Law at JPC and Ben Hooper, Head of Outsourcing and Financial Accounting at Arram Berlyn Gardner.

Topics to be covered will include:

  • What is the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme?
  • How to implement furlough
  • Activities during furlough
  • Holidays
  • Sick Pay and Maternity Pay
  • Will it be extended?
  • How are furlough payments calculated?
  • How do you make a furlough claim?
  • When will you receive the grant and how?
  • Can you make claims in advance of a future month’s payroll?

The discussion will take place on Wednesday 13th May 2020 at 12 noon and places are likely to be in high demand.
