Property Practice Group Leader heads back to University!

Property Practice Group Leader heads back to University!

In January, Property Practice Group leader Yashmin Mistry went back to University!

She was delighted to be asked to speak to a new generation of budding lawyers at the University of Wolverhampton.

The day started off with Yashmin being welcomed by David Wedge, Alumni Relations Manager at the University. Her talk and Q and A with the law students followed with Yashmin being asked to focus on her career journey, with tips and advice for entering and succeeding in the profession given her career standing and successes.

Yashmin discussed not just her route into her chosen area of law, leasehold enfranchisement, but also other routes students may want to follow. She touched on her experiences at the University, but also how it was starting out as a lawyer including her training contract.

Her main take away for the students was to keep an open mind and remember that everyones journey will be different. Whilst it might not always be plain sailing it is achievable as some of the best lawyers are those that have had things go wrong for them. Above all, Yashmin told her audience – it is about being happy and passionate about what you do so in something that motivates you to get out of bed each morning and potentially for the next 40 years of your life.

The day ended with a tour of the old and new University law buildings and an interview with the press team for their Alumni magazine. Yashmin was also honoured to be  a part of the University’s awards presentation celebrating the success of their students.

Yashmin says ‘I really enjoyed being back at the University and hope the students enjoyed my insight into the legal world!’
